The Friends of Crestwood is a registered charity and is run by parents, staff and members from our local community. The idea behind the charity is to provide closer links between home and school, bringing staff, parents and friends together socially in a supportive and social way. Fundraising is, of course, a large part of the Friends’ activities, helping to provide extra funds and resources in these difficult times, our aim is to enhance the pupils’ education and the facilities in school in general, as well as create social opportunities for parents, pupils and the community. We want it to be fun too.
The success of the Friends will depend on parents getting involved even if they only have a small amount of time available, and all parents are automatically members of the Friends when their children join our school. Membership is free.
We are open to ideas for raising money and having fun and want as many people to get involved as possible. Just how many events we can hold and the nature of them will depend to a large extent on how many people get involved and to what degree.
The Friends are a registered charity and our association is a member of the NCPTA / PTA -UK. We pay an annual membership fee which gives us lots of member benefits including subscription linked insurance cover, support and advice, regular newsletters, and an extensive list of PTA information and resources.
At present the Friends meet on an ad hoc basis when events are being organised / planned as needed, with the exception of the AGM, which we are obliged to hold annually and this will be held at the beginning of the academic year and will be an opportunity for all parents to come along and hear in more detail about events run, funds raised and how the money has been spent. It will also be the occasion when we elect our new committee and class representatives.
The Friends currently have a core Committee, made up of four roles (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary)
All Friends letters are currently sent by Parentmail but we hope to set up a web page over time and maybe get an extensive contacts list for email.
