Remembrance Day Service

The annual Remembrance Assembly is always a momentous occasion for the staff and students of Crestwood when we welcome guests from our local community and neighbouring schools and colleges.

remembrance2Each year we follow a new and different theme and this year it was Heroes of War. Together through poetry, music, song, personal stories and citations we remembered the many people who had endured enormous sacrifices for our freedom. In particular, we honoured those men who had won the famous Victoria Cross for incredible and breath-taking acts of bravery from World War 1 to the present day.

The whole school sat fixated through seventy minutes packed with thought provoking student and staff performances linked with sound effects and music. Student performances, which included their own musical compositions as well as other well-known items, and carefully selected poetry representing the effects of war throughout the last century, combined to create a powerful anthology. Student remembrance1performances ranged from Years 7 to 11 and were all delivered professionally and with confidence capturing the emotive mood of such an important occasion. At 11 am the school respected the 2 minute silence which was followed by the Last Post and prayers.
