Solar Eclipse 2015

On Friday 20th March, the Science department led the whole school onto the field to observe the first solar eclipse in 16 years.

Covering 85% of the sun at 09:30, students were given pinhole cameras to witness the event. This followed a whole school assembly educating the students as to why solar eclipses occur and also why they are so infrequent. It was an exciting time as the moon began to cover the sun and a great way to engage students in the science of astronomy.
