Mobile Phones Usage in School

Dear Parent/Carer

Mobile Phones

After much consideration, we have reviewed our policy on mobile phones. We trialled open access as we felt it was important that students could show some responsibility and act maturely by allowing them to use their mobile phones in school and not abuse this privilege.

Unfortunately, after several incidents of inappropriate use of mobile phones in school, we have decided to ban the use of mobile phones during school hours, including at lunch and break times.

Students may have their mobile phones with them, but they must be turned off in the bottom of their school bags. They should not be in blazer or trouser pockets and any mobile phones that are seen will be confiscated until the end of the school day. The only time mobile phones may be used is at the direction of a member of staff in lessons for internet research.

I am sorry to do this, but I feel it is important to make this decision now. The new rule will come into force on Monday 3rd June 2019. Please make sure your child is aware and complies.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Krista Dawkins
