Positive Covid cases notification, Cherbourg Campus

I apologise alerting you on Sunday morning but unfortunately we have a further two children test positive for COVID, one in Year 9 and a sibling in Year 10.

Due to a lack of clarity of the period of time when symptoms started, in addition to Year 10 having had 3 cases so far this term, we have taken the difficult decision to isolate the whole of the Cherbourg year groups in Y9 and 10. This means the following:

  • Your child, if in Year 9 or 10 at Cherbourg Campus,  will need to remain at home in isolation until the end of Wednesday 9th December, which is 14 days from the two day period prior to the positive test being taken.
  • Your child will return to school on Thursday 10th December.
  • Your family DO NOT need to isolate, unless anyone in your household develops symptoms.
  • Your child does not need to be tested unless they develop symptoms.
  • If your child is tested and you receive a negative result they still need to isolate for the full period.
  • Online learning will commence as soon as possible for your child, Mr Birtwhistle will send out details tomorrow.
  • Free School meal students will receive a food parcel delivery as soon as this can be arranged.
I do apologise but due to the numbers of students involved we are unable to make individual contact by telephone. If you do wish to speak to someone please call the normal school number tomorrow and ask to speak to matron Mrs. Hinton.
The normal notification letter from Public Health England will be issued later today.
I am so sorry but unfortunately this is the world we live in at the moment. I reiterate the need for children to maintain social distancing from one another and maintain “hands, face, space”

Best wishes

Mrs. Krista Dawkins
