A Values course is taught to all year groups and incorporates topics from Citizenship, PSHE and RE.

Students participate in this lesson once a fortnight. There is an opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the ways that society works and in personal development and well being.

Citizenship GCSE is taken as an option and incorporates the following themes:

  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Power, politics and the media
  • Global issues

The approach towards these subject areas aims to develop:

  • Knowledge and Understanding about becoming informed citizens
  • Skills of Enquiry and Communication
  • Skills of Participation and Responsible Action

GCSE assessment:

  • Two practical group activities form the basis of coursework which provides 60% of the final grade
  • Two written exams provide 40% of the final grade
